Description:
An organization devoted to the development of programs aimed at the elimination of hunger around the world. Freedom from Hunger develops innovative programs for eliminating chronic hunger by providing resources and information that empowers families and communities to help themselves. To help the rural hungry in developing countries make choices that will move them beyond hunger, FFH supports programs that provide very poor women with cash credit through poverty lending for income-generating activities that are linked to participatory adult education. These Credit with Education programs, in turn, result in overall improvement in health and nutrition, birth spacing, food production and storage, and better management of small businesses. FFH provides technical and financial support to local organizations to help them develop and expand Credit with Education programs which are currently operating in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Honduras, Mali, Thailand, Togo, and Uganda.
